The business model of professional services is rapidly evolving: new technologies, changing competitive landscapes and complex client requirements are just some of the factors that are fundamentally changing how professional firms do business.

Saïd Business School and Meridian West have co-authored a series of papers that seek to answer some of the most important strategic questions on the agenda of professional services today.

The Major Projects Leadership Academy (MPLA) has played a key role in building capability in UK Government major infrastructure and transformation projects.

The MPLA is a joint venture between the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and Saïd Business School, with over 500 senior public servants, including military personnel, passing through the academy since 2013.

IEDP Developing Leaders talks to Nick Borwell, Director of the Government Project Delivery Profession at the IPA.

How do senior executives develop the skills they need to lead in a changing world?

To answer that question, we partnered with executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to speak to 152 CEOs representing a wide range of sectors around the world.

Assured of their anonymity, these senior executives reflected openly on their leadership challenges and experiences. Taken together, the interviews underscore the ways in which the role of senior executives is changing, and point to the capabilities that can help today’s leaders, and tomorrow’s, thrive in a business environment marked by uncertainty and constant change.

At Saïd Business School, we are acutely aware that the world is on the cusp of great change in the way that companies must be run.

It should go without saying that, if executives need to change the way they do business, executive education programmes must also adapt. Our Executive Education magazine looks at different challenges and solutions businesses face today, with insights from faculty, practitioners and partners, as well as our performance review.

Saïd Business School and the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ) collaborated to design a new executive education programme, which will provide DBJ’s future leaders with a key understanding of ‘strategic alignment’ and business-critical leadership skills.

Aimed at high-potential future leaders from across DBJ’s business divisions, the programme is designed to create global leaders and transform the organisation in line with its Long-Term Vision 2030, which promotes sustainability management in 'pursuit of both economic and social value'.
